The Mr and I hiked Green Point Nature Preserve today in honor of Dori Turner, former Innkeeper at Watervale Resort. She played a significant role in the conservation easement of the entire Watervale peninsula and the acquisition of the Upper Herring Lake and Green Point Dunes Nature Preserve by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. It was glorious to see it all today, and I was glad I was wearing my Women’s March (on Washington) hat and button: One person can only do so much. I’m grateful for all Dori Turner did to preserve Benzie County’s treasures. Rest in peace, trailblazer.
Here’s to more land preservation, beautiful hikes and visionary leaders who care.
