It was an unusually chilly July afternoon in northern Michigan yesterday, and I didn’t know what to expect when I set out with mic in hand to capture the spirit of the Make Good Trouble Day of Action — a national event honoring the legacy of Congressman John Lewis.
But the weather didn’t dampen the spirits of more than 200 Michiganders who showed up with signs, conversations, and courage. They were standing up for voting rights, fair representation, and the power of everyday people to shape our democracy.
The audio I captured was unexpected in the best way: laughter, honking horns, the hum of community in motion, and quiet moments of resolve.
This special Home of the Brave segment will air on WUWU Radio in Elberta, and you can also listen right here:
Thank you for listening and for making good trouble in your own way.
