He carries the flag in his car. Flies it at home. Walks with it in parades and rallies.
Not out of blind allegiance, but because of love — for this country’s ideals, its promise, and its people. He’s a U.S. veteran. A chemist. A father. And someone deeply worried about where things are headed — especially in science, truth-telling, and how we treat one another.
He’s not afraid of hard conversations. In fact, he welcomes them — especially with those who see the world differently. He believes in listening, in staying open, in learning.
When I sat down to record him for Home of the Brave, I was struck by the way he bridged intellect with emotion. His patriotism is rooted, generous, and clear-eyed.
Dave Meyers reminded me that bravery isn’t always marching or protesting — sometimes it’s choosing to speak calmly across a divide.
This is the kind of voice I created Home of the Brave for.
Ordinary people, extraordinary heart.
