It’s the week of the Fourth of July in northern Michigan, and in Benzie County, a group of neighbors are busy building something. Not just a parade float but a statement.
For the Benzie Dems, this float is more than red, white, and blue. It’s about celebrating liberty, justice and a government by and for the people.
In this special Fourth of July episode of Home of the Brave, we hear from Keira Duvernoy, Susan Koenig, and Jim Dulzo, three Benzie County neighbors who believe that honoring our founding fathers means continuing the work they started. Rather than turning away from the current landscape in discouragement, these neighbors are engaging in civil discourse, standing up for democratic values and reminding us that patriotism is all about active citizenship.

Wishing you a meaningful 4th of July celebration. 🇺🇸
