I’ve had a pink bullet journal sitting on my shelf for the past year. I was inspired to buy it based on a student from my summer class at the Oliver Art Center. He and his three daughters joined me for a day-long journaling workshop, and he wanted to learn new techniques to “spiff up” his journal like his daughters do on a regular basis. He was thrilled to play with gel plates, stencils and all of my art journaling supplies, and he was excited to learn so many new writing techniques.
That enthusiastic response stayed with me and got me wondering about my own bullet journal.
But that journal just wasn’t calling me. Now, nearly a year after I purchased it, I finally found a good use for it as my JOY Journal. I was called to add a little washy tape from Kelly Rae Roberts to the side and cover along with one of the Pocket Inspiration Cards (RISE) that I created during the pandemic. My spontaneous creative spark transformed that blah journal into a journal that calls to me daily. JOY!!!
I added some of my gel plate papers to the inside pages and began documenting some health goals. On the adjoining page is my journaling… and I am so happy I know so many techniques for personal growth, creative expression and resilience!
Here’s my new Joy Journal and below it is the prompt from the RISE card. Journal it!
A Journal Prompt:
No matter… what’s going on
in your life, you can choose to rise
above confining circumstances.
Claim your power.
Rise as a leader.
Rise above pettiness.
Rise for the greater good of all.
The world needs you!
How are you actively using your power to rise?
Happy journaling!
